I Remember - (Native Youth Writers)

I remember when my taste changed,
Music wasn't about being cool.
Sounds were different,
now they seemed more real.
Rock was more than just the words,
rap was more than just cursing.
My ear changed but did I?

I remember the sounds of home,

water flowing over rocks of yesterdays past.
Smells of familiar plants and
sounds of birds that caught my ear.
When I was young I remember this place,
this place is home.

Author preferred to remain anonymous.~ Native Youth

Many of the Native youth writers wished to remain anonymous once their words were written but they certainly had the courage to take the first steps to submit their work in order to contribute to the Native Youth conversations.
